CAMBODIAN WELLNESS PROGRAM

Launched in August 2017, the Cambodian Wellness Program aims to promote mental wellness by following a strength-based model through Community Health Workers (CHWs) as change agents, integrating key cultural elements, and demonstrating sensitivity to cultural, linguistic, historical issues to reduce stigma in mental illness, increase to mental health services, and improve overall mental and physical health and well-bring among Cambodians in Long Beach and Santa Ana.

PROGRAM COMPONENTS

• Peer-Led PEI Community Outreach and Engagement Services
• PEI Education Workshops
• PEI Case Management/Nagivation/Engagement and Referral
• Peer and Family Social Support Groups

​PROGRAM OFFERINGS

• Educational workshops on how to recognize signs and symptoms of mental health, identify stressors, acknowledge risk factors, and reduce stress.
• Wellness activities (e.g. yoga, exercise, meditation, Tai Chi, art class, & dance)
• Misc classes (e.g. how-to utilize public transportation, various daily skills)
• Spiritual activities (e.g. water blessing)
