                                          Marriage Enrichment Program

                                          Picture
CAA recognizes that serious pressures, socio-economic hardship, cultural norms
that undervalue women and defined gender roles, faced by Asian Pacific
Islander and Hispanic immigrants and families, can lead to depression, divorce and a
breakdown in family functioning. The Marriage Enrichment Program is a response to these problems, designed to sustain and strengthen marriages in these communities through two main activities:

                                          1. Marriage Enhancement and Marriage Skills Training

                                          Picture
This training is aimed to enhance skills and knowledge about communication, anger management, conflict resolution, access to marriage resources, understanding cultural norms, and the relationship between cultural norms and a healthy marital partnership. The training is free of charge. Each group training consists of two-hour sessions held over a 5-week period. Each individual who completes the 10 hour course receives a $20 stipend. Individuals and couples are encouraged to participate. The training is available in the following languages: Khmer, Lao, Thai, Vietnamese, Kmhmu, Hmong, Spanish, and Samoan.

Note: This is an educational training course, meant to improve knowledge and skills. It is not marriage counseling.

                                          2. Career Advancement Activities

                                          Picture
CAA added this component to the Marriage Enrichment Program in 2011 to provide additional job-related training to its participants. CAA provides the following activities:
-Soft Skills Development Seminars, to enhance job related skills
-Career Counseling Sessions, to identify strengths. accomplishments, goals, etc.
-Basic ESL training, for those in need
                                          -Job and Vocational Training
                                          -Job Research and Placement Assistance.

These services are primarily available in English, Spanish and Khmer.

                                          2.  Public Awareness Campaign

                                          Picture
In additional to training sessions, CAA is making great efforts at increasing community awareness on the importance of healthy marriages. CAA has launched a public awareness campaign through ethnic media (radio, newspaper, and television ads), printed materials (flyers, posters, T-Shirts, and billboards), and community events.
